K, sounds like you may be a litle paranoid (lol) but given your hx of preterm birth, I can understand it. How are things now? Braxton Hicks are common and may be what you are having. Make certain you are well hydrated, drink a glass of water an hour, rest on your left side and see if they let up. Well, if you only had 2 it probably was a non-issue, but if they continue, try the water and rest trick. It works 95% of the time when it isn't *real labor* beginning. Dehyration is a big problem with pregnancy and also a major cause of pre-term contractions. Also, our hospital tells patients that contractions start at the top of the uterus and spread downward which is opposite of what you described as cramping in the crotch and working its way up. When I had mine (3 months of them from 5 months til delivery), it felt like the entire uterus clamped down at once. I coudln't pin-point the origination place (top or bottom). At our hospital, the perinatologist don't deliver babies, they just give their medical expert opinion about issues throughout pregnancy. Who is on call for your OB? or does your Perinatologist deliver? things are so different in all parts of the world! lol best wishes and hope they are all gone! How are things now? ------------------------------------------------ Thanks for the suggestions... and I admit I am now paranoid... I have been paranoid the entire pg.. but the recent polyhydramnios issue kinda made everything worse... The wierd thing is that I am 60 lbs lighter at this stage of pg then I was with Noah... and much healthier...so part of me assumed this would be easier this time around. Last night was uneventful.. and I feel okay this morning. I have had that " clamping down " feeling sporatically... but only when I get UP off the couch and walk around... when I rest... I am more comfy. I rest as much as possible... and Noah has been very cooperative. He will sit on the couch with me... and although I am getting tired of cartoons and kid approved movies... they have been quite the lifesaver for me. I am patiently ( yeah right ) waiting for my GD results..... Most of the time, they think if you have time to call and ask the ER's opinion, it isn't an emergency, or you wouldn't stop to call first. If you GO to the ER, you will be there for at least 4-6 hours getting lab/US/vag exams/ then waiting on your OB to call the ER MD back about what to do with you. Most likely, you'd be sent home on bedrest to see your OB the next business day. So, the lesser of the 2 evils would be your choice. I chose to go into L & D to see and hear my baby. Of course, that turned into an 8 hr visit once then an 11 hre visit the 2nd time. *sigh* No perks for working there I can tell ya!! Nothing like smoothness in care while we are pg, right? unfortunately, thats they way the medical world is. (even for the nurses who work there!!) Guest guest
Yeah, yeah, by bugging 'em, I meant going down to the ER. Though the endless masochistic waiting may be worse than any ailment;-) In the 'burbs of south Florida, where I live, they're tryin' to alleviate this by having outreach ERs, where folks can go for 'minor' things like simple fractures & small dog bites, I believe. They've got MRI's & x-ray machines & labs on site & supposedly it's quicker. Who knows, but just about everything is slower @ the hospital, I had my US's @ a Women's Dx Center, it was quick & painless. If I'd gone to the hospital's outpatient Dx center, with everyone testing for everything, it would've been a mission. Once upon a time, I had a heel x-ray & waited an eternity @ the hospital's center. WlsMomma 21 weeks with #1 My little man due in mid Dec.
