Guest guest
From reading all of the posts (I may be quiet because I know so little about all this stuff but I soak up every post there is!) I've noticed everyone refers to their OB. Does everyone seek out an OB when they are TTC or when first pregnant? I've never seen an OB. I've always just gone to a primary care (family) doctor. When I delivered my first (and so far only) child going on 11 years ago I had a family doctor and no OB (different doctor than I have now). At that time (before he retired) he was the doctor that delivered me when I was born and he was the only doctor I had ever seen. I'm very touchy when it comes to doctors and making changes in that area. Is there any reason why I would need to find an OB rather than just deal with my primary care doctor? She is only the 2nd doctor I've ever seen with any consistancy (other than my WLS dr). Just curious about what you all think! Guest guest
Hmmm, choice of a practioner is a super duper personal decision. It involves a # of variables, like your comfort zone, your geographical location, life experiences, etc etc. I'm a fan of specialization. Ya know, Jack of all trades, blah blah. @ least that's the way it is in the legal field. Guest guest
I live in a small town where there ae no OB's. My family doctor will deciver my baby. If there is any complications then I would be referred to an ob from out of town. I have all the trust in my doctor. He has been my doctor for 15 years and looked after me when I had my daughter 5 years ago. I think if I had an option of an OB or my family doctor. I would still pick my family doctor. He knows me best. S OB vs. Primary Care Doctor Question From reading all of the posts (I may be quiet because I know so little about all this stuff but I soak up every post there is!) Guest guest
Sab, My opinion is that if you trust this doc and you feel that your primary doc is informed enough about you unique medical situation with the WLS and all, then stay with this doc. If I were you the only extra thing that I would do is discuss with your primary doc whether she feels qualified enough to care for you with your unique situation throughout your pregnancy and if she does, if there is anything that comes up during the pregnancy that concerns you that she send you to a specialist right away. Good luck sweetie. Axelrod OB vs. Primary Care Doctor Question From reading all of the posts (I may be quiet because I know so little about all this stuff but I soak up every post there is!)
