My name is Crystal. I have been married to Ronn the love of my life

for 5 years. I have a 3 1/2 yr old daughter named Hannah. When I was

pregnant with Hannah I was diagnosed with a kidney disease (Focal

Glumero Sclerosis). After the birth of my daughter i continuted to

pack on the pounds and my kindey dr suggested I have WLS. At my all

time high of 365 pounds my insurance approved it and on Nov 18, 2003

I had the LAP RNY. It hs been great and I would do it again in a

heart beat. When my husband and i were trying to get pregnant with my

daughter it took us 3 years and 2 miscarriages before conceiving our

little miracle. Wellllllll that wasnt the case this time. I found out

yesterday I am pregnant. I am almost 9 months postop. I was on birth

control pills and did NOTHING to alter the effects of the

pills...Meaning missing any, taking meds etc...So here i am 140

pounds lighter but between 2 1/2 to 3 months pregnant. I go on Aug

24th to have an u/s to find out a little better due date. My family

is really nervous because we know NOTHING about pregnancy after

WLS..So i am looking forward to hearing from you all and hearing your

stories...If anyone would like to email me off of the group feel

free. My email addy is mommy2hannahbeth@...

thanks and good luck to you all!

Congrats Crystal!

I guess no one told you that oral BC pills are sorta useless with Gastric

Bypass patients... due to the malabsorption issues.. :)

LOL

Congrats on the weight loss too!

I am 8 months post op and almost 26 weeks preggers. (yep.. caught a sperm

infection 10 weeks post op)

I am considered high risk because of an exisiting preemie birth ( my Noah was

a 31 weeker)

and I have Polyhydramnios ( too much amniotic fluid ).

Don't let any doc tell you that you are high risk JUST because of the WLS.

Take your vits faithfully. I don't take prenatals.. just lots of Flinstones

and my labs are fine.

Drink your water. Add some whole grain , dense, good carbs to your diet ..

and eat good foods.. :)

I think the biggest complaint of post WLS pregnancy is Exhaustion..

exaggerated due to vits and the way we absorb them. My morning sickness ( all

day

sickness) was MUCH worse this time.. because I couldn't " out eat " it with bad

carbs.. like I did with Noah.

(I did gain 60 lbs in 7 months)

I finally kicked the all day sickness at about 15 weeks.... What a Relief!

We just had a bunch of babies born in the last 2 weeks... this is an awesome

group and welcome. I am sure you will enjoy it!

I just had a beautiful 8 lb 7 ounce baby boy 12 days ago and i had an easier

pregnancy this time around than with any of my others. I did nothing different

this time exceptt ake my regualr vitamins with my prenatals, calcium, b12 and

folic acid and I did not do the glucose test for diabetes but rather a 2 hour

fasting one instead. You will do fine and congratulations,.

Crystal,

Welcome and congrats! I just gave birth to my Hannah this past April 14th, I

had my WLS 7/2/01. My pregnancy was pretty normal and Hannah is doing great.

Good luck and I look forward to hearing when your due date is. :)
