Guest guest
I disagree! I went back on birth control pills at 2 months post op and was pregnant at 4 months post op. It is widely understood in our local support group that they are in fact malabsorbed and useless and there are several of us that serve as proof since we are pregnant. This, like dumping, could vary from individual to individual and according to my surgeon, as long as we are malabsorbing everything else, birth control pills are not any exception. V Birth control pills Birth control pills are not useless with gastric bypass patients, except in the first few months after surgery, due to losing the fat so rapidly and the hormones that are released with that. You should only need to use a " back up method " or " double protection " for the first few months post op. I have been on birth control pills ONLY since about 3 months post op, and didn't conceive until I stopped taking them, about 15-16 months later. C.
