Guest guest
I am due 12/24, but my friend just gave birth to her first child on Friday. I want to buy her a gift, but I'm not sure what to get. I was thinking about a gift certificate to a salon to get a haircut/pedicure/manicure/massage or a gift certificate for both parents to go out to eat. I am looking to spend around $40, so I'm not going to go crazy. I don't know how soon she'll even feel like leaving the house, and I don't necessarily want dad to feel neglected. Her mother is living with her for a month to help with cooking and cleaning, so she won't need casseroles or anything like that (I may bring some over after her mom leaves). So does anyone have any ideas as to what to give a new mom? Thanks, Diane
Guest guest
I would get them passes to a movie or something and maybe they can go take one in before her mom leaves. That is if they like going to the movies. Guest guest
Give her gift certificates for places like pizza hut and such -- things that will make her at home life easier. She probably won't want ot go out right after the baby is born. Also maybe offer to babysit one evening when they are ready to go out so that they can leave the baby with someone they trust. Guest guest
I think a gift certificate to go out to eat would be an EXCELLENT idea. I remember when I was on maturnity leave with my last child we went out to eat quite a few times and I know I was a little stressed about it because I felt like I shoudln't be spending extra money. It's PERFECT since her mom is there, she and her husband can go out for a little time alone while grandma babysits and they can do it " guilt free " Excellent idea. I wish my friends had thought of it. You could also include babysitting coupons for future use and a coupon for a " girls night out " , etc. Candy dianeleopold wrote: I am due 12/24, but my friend just gave birth to her first child on Friday. Guest guest
Diane, I'd go for that gift certificate and hopefully she can use it before her Mom goes home and she can watch the baby.
