In rare instances a hernia can " strangulate " ... or get so pushed up thru the

hole in the muscle and then NOTHNG gets thru the bowel... blood supply is cut

off.. and it necrotizes (dies or rots).. or so my sister the almost Dr told

me.. I have a hernia next to my belly button.... and didn't notice it until I

got

pregnant. You have to weigh the risk of hernia repair while pregnant vs waiting

until after baby is born.

If the hernia is " reducible " meaning it can easily be pushed back into normal

anatomical position, they most always wait to do surgery on them afer delivery @

our hospital.
