Guest guest
you know, I had my GBP nearly 5 years ago (an old timer! lol) and my surgeon at the time in Columbus Ohio explained that it was a delicate procedure and although some surgeon's were already doing it laprascopically, SHE wanted to have her patients OPENED WIDE up so she could see exactly what she was cutting and exactly where she was cutting. After explaining everything that could go wrong, I opted to keep her and forgo another surgeon who was doing lap procedure. Now, after reading this, I am glad she cut me from stem to sternum! lol Actually, I have a very beautiful, very minimal scar approximately 6inches long (8 if you stretch it-lol). She had one long running suture beneath the skin and I had no staples or external suture hole scars. All of the MD's I have seen for this that or the other since the surgery, all comment on what a beautiful scar it is. *takes a bow* lol Thank you for pointing this out to us. Although my intention wasn't to scare anyone, this was the first thing I had read on this type of *occurence*. And I have no doubt you were not trying to scare anyone in the least. Knowledge is power and for those of you who have had a GBP or GR-DS, what-have-you done LAP, it is something to be aware of. Congrats on that lovely scar. I kinda like mine too. *wink* Best. Liz
