Guest guest
I am not sure but you should be able to type something in your search box and get info on the web, thats what I did when I could not find info. I know my progesterone was low when I found out I was pregnant and I was put on the progesterone suppositories for awhile. Guest guest
Hi Crystal, Well before this pregnancy, I never knew I had a problem with producting enough progesterone to sustain a pregnancy. Considering I have lost 6 babies, I am amazed that none of the OB's I have used have ever been concerned over my progesterone levels.....anyway, my OB now is a high risk OB and he is awesome. When he first checked my levels, my progesterone was just 11. He said it needed to always stay above 15 for a healthy sustainable pregnancy.....in the early stages.....before 12th week.....so, they put me on suppositories 2 times per day......OK.....I did that for a week and my levels went up to 19. Last week they were up to 22. I don't do well with the prometrium pills, my levels actually dropped when I took that.....maybe I didn't take enough......they didn't tell me three times per day, they told me twice per day.......I thought maybe since I was a gastric bypass patient, maybe the oral progesterone was not sufficient for me.....they have decided to keep me on 2 supp. per day until week 12, which is next Thursday for me. I go to my OB on Friday, Aug. 20. They will recheck prog. levels then and also that is when I have my high level ultrasound to check for Down's Syndrome possibility. (due to my age of 39).......so.....anyway, I think the levels should be above 15....but if you are still newly preg, I cannot imagine it would be in the thousands already.....but hey, I don't really know....haaha....you might look it up online under progesterone levels in pregnancy.......you might find your answers there..... Guest guest
I was told that progestrone levels could be between 1 and 10,000. They said that is a large range, ut as long as they ontinue to go up. My last pregnancy my progestrone was like a 9, then a few days later, like 12, then it went up to 89....all within one week. The dr was doing alot of bloodwork, looking for specific things. He had also told me that the best time to take progestrone levels was about 3 hours after taking the tabs. (I have never been given the suppositories). And that was when my progestrone had jumped to 89. I have taken progestrone with all my pregnancies, except my first which was a miscarriage and the dr suggested it for the next pregnancy and it worked well for me. Pre and post wls. after about 12 weeks you can usually stop taking progetrone, b/c the baby produces enough by then. And I was also told during one pregnancy when I was very sick, and still taking the tabs, that if you continue to take them, they can make you sick (like morning sickness) b/c your body has produced enough and you have too much then. But at the time i was afraid to quit taking them, b/c I knew they were working and I didn't want to take a chance of miscarring again..so I was going to finish off my prescription. But, that was the cause of extended and very bad morning sickness. Hope this helps...it is what my drs have told me. Sharon in GA
Guest guest
Hey Crystal, My OB told me that normal progesterone during pregnancy should be around 25 and mine was at 8. So like Terri, I am on progesterone suppositories twice a day until the 12th week. Kind of yucky, but I hope that makes everything ok. This will be my first and I've never TTC. I'm 7 weeks now.
