question about Level II ultrasound

Hey Ladies,

Quick question: Since level II ultrasounds are higher resolution and

can show such great detail (so I am told).......I wonder if they can

determine the sex of the baby as early as 12 weeks? I am having one

done this Friday to check for genetic problems......and I was curious

to see if it would be detectable or not to see the baby's

sex.....anyone have any luck with seeing the baby's gender as early

as 12 weeks? If not, guess I will have to wait till next month at my

16 month ultrasound.......

Thanks!

Hi Terri,

I had a Level II with my DD when I was 11-12 weeks along and the dr.

was able to tell she was a girl. BUT, he did caution that he was only

80% and it really was too early to be any more sure. I went back to

him when I was close to 20 weeks along and he was able to give me the

98-99% that she really was a she!

I had a pregnancy in 2001 where the baby did have genetic

abnormalities and that is why we were having the level II with the

specialist. Our daughter turned out perfect and beautiful (but we're

obviously biased!).

Good luck to you and I hope your tests turn out negative.
