Hi I am 38, I had RNY Lap 1/14/04 in Tallahassee, FL by Dr.

Balliro. I have lost 108 lbs. at 7 months post op. I have had no real

complications. I just found out this last Friday that i am 6 weeks

pregnant at 7 mos post op. Due April 1, 2005. Would like advice/tips

from anyone on how to maintain optimum health for myself and my baby.

Concerned about malnutrtion and other post op risks. Also concerned

about how too much or too little weight loss or gain will be deemed

unhealthy for me and/or baby. I still have 130 lbs. to reach my goal

weight how long if ever can I expect to reach my goal now?

So grateful to find this support group. Haven't told surgeon office

yet. I am nervous as to what they will do. I did sign an agreement to

not get pregnant for 1 year post op. Being previously diagnosed with

tubal disease and wouldn't get pregnant without IVF, I never imagined

I could break that agreement. What now? I struggle to maintain 50-60

grams of protein a day for myself so how much should I intake to

maximize our health? I know some women manage 100 grams protein a

day. Cannot imagine how they do it. Any sample menus for a daily

routine that would get me close to 100 grams a protein would be

greatly appreciated!!! How much water/fluids should I get in now. I

manage about 48 oz. right now but it takes me all day. If I should

get more in how can I do it and still get in alot of protein? HELP,

PLEASE!!! Any tips, websites, books, magazines etc you know please

pass on. Also, when will I start showing and need different clothes.

As I have dropped 4 dress size I am not sure what to expect in the

next 8 months. Any tips on plus size maternity clothes would be

great. I am currently a size 24. Thanks for the support! God Bless.

Hello. Welcome to the group. I am new myself and you have asked many

of the questions I have wanted to ask. I am 12 weeks pregnant and

had LAP RNY on Nov 7,2003. I went from 260 to 150. I have heard from

others who still lost a few lbs during the pregnancy and had happy

healthy babies. I am like you....I am concerned about the water and

protien....as I do not think I was getting enough in before I was

pregnant..now I am having a hard time making sure I get enough. I

wish you the best of luck!

Hi Ladies,

I am also in the same boat as you two. I was 8 mos. post WLS when I

found out I was 6 wks. pregnant. My OB perscribed chewable prenatal

vitamins for me and I take them faithfully. I am now 12 wks.

pregnant and am experiencing stomach cramping and constipation

issues. I think I finally have those resolved with the help of

Colace. I have lost 15 lbs in the past two months. My OB has

scheduled visits every two weeks and she does an ultrasound each

visit to make sure the baby is growing as it should. So far

everything is OK and she advised me that my weight will more than

like stabilize during my second trimester and I will either gain

very little or maintain. She has reassured me that as long as the

baby continues to grow at a normal rate and I am feeling fine there

is nothing to worry about. I too signed the 12 month agreement

about getting pregnant with my surgeon and have not yet went back to

see him. I figure that if I start experiencing problems, I will go

see him. My OB has been very open to discussing my surgery and all

of my concerns. She has also been very supportive and has done her

own research since she has told me she wants to be able to provide

me with the best care possible. My advice is to find a very

supportive OB who is willing to either contact your surgeon or

another bariatric surgeon familiar with gastric bypass surgeries.

I am due early March 05... it sounds like we are due within a month

of each other!

for water, to me, you are doing great. i barely get in 2 liters of water a day,

that's if i drink constantly and force myself. i'm very sick and tired and

nauseated. mainly be sure you are taking you vitamins and supplements. the

baby will take everything they need from you, you need to worry about your

health. lots of people are in your boat, so feel free to vent, comment, or post

concerns as we can share with you. welcome.
