Guest guest
Thanks Helen, , Tara and Merdith, and anyone else I may have overlooked for the warm welcome! The main things that I am concerned with are the age difference between my son and this baby...he will be 3 months shy of turning 6 when this baby is born. Those of you who mentioned that you have 5 yr olds, do you worry about this? I have heard that such a big age difference affects the closeness of the children...I don't know if this is true or not, but I do know my son is so excited to be getting a sibling, he can hardly stand it! He says he wants it to be a sister... I just hope they will be close. Anyway, on the other hand, I have also heard that its a good thing to space them 5 years, that way each child has had the chance to be the baby. My friend spaced her children 5 years for this reason and they seem to be fine. I was just wondering what your thoughts would be? My other question/ concern is that I had a DS, and I am just wondering how a DS pregnancy varies from an RNY pregnancy. I take it most ppl here had an rny(?) but I'm just wondering if anyone here had the DS also? Thanks so much! Guest guest
hey meredith, my son will be 5 years and 5 months old when this one is born. it was a huge concern for me as well, but i've heard nothing but good things. i have a coule friends who have space between thier kids and they are very close, the older sibling is very helpful and each kid gets " time alone " and time to be an only child of sorts. i wouldn't worry to much about it. i can't help on teh RNY vs DS, but i can tell you, being 8 weeks post op and getting preggo is hard, i'm sick all the time and can barely eat anything. i'm very tired all the time, etc. good luck, it'll be great...ps, my son wants a sister also...lol we should find out sept 8th! i get people telling me alreayd they thinks it's a girl or boy...i'm getting more " girl guesses " then boy ones, lol...only one thinks it's a boy, lol...i can't wait to find out tho. aka mom2ben99 (jennilee75@...) Guest guest
My daughter is almost 11 and we are TTC a second child. I had a sister 3 years younger than me and my husband had a brother 3 years younger than him (my ex also had a sister 3 years younger than him) - none of us get along well with our siblings. We don't NOT get along - but none of us are close. My daughter is excited at the idea of us TTC a sister or brother for her. She loves babies/little kids. So, I don't think there is any " science " to how kids are going to get along based on their age. Just my opinion! Sab
