Guest guest
I had my Gastric Bypass in April of 2004. I am one of the few women that actually feel ovulation occur. I think I may be pregnant. Well, the past 2 nights I've been feeling the cramping that I experience during the ovulation process but last night was different. I had major cramping. Could that pain be contribute to the egg being fertilize? What are the risk of being pregnant so soon from having the surgery? If I am pregnant, what should I inform my OBGYN on what test I cannot take because of the surgury? Thanks

I think it varies from person to person. I am high risk.. but NOT WLS related. However.. I did get preggers 10 weeks post op... and lost about 20 lbs.. but gained some back... still less then when I started out... I am almost 28 weeks preggers... and I am just 5ft and short waisted and have polyhydramnios ( way to much amniotic fluid). My uterus is so high up and all my rearranged intestines are scrunched up... not a pleasant feeling most days. I have a hernia as well... I do eat often... and my labs are fine. I take my vits and drink plenty of water and do drink Diet Coke as well... While I would not have chosen or planned a pg this early ... as the mental ramifications associated with expanding waistline and the ultimate desire to LOSE weight has been a challange for me... and I am very tired all the time.... I am dealing and very happy about baby Jonah's upcoming arrival. The big 3 to do is: VITS WATER EAT GOOD FOOD *************************************************** K in Ft Lauderdale Noah - 10/14/02 - 31 weeker Jonah - edd 11/18/04 ( currently High Risk Pg.. not WLS related) Open RNY - 12/02/03 262/200/someday maybe in the 120's?? Guest guest
I was three months out of surgery when I got pregnant. So far everything has been okay, the OB has been watching my B12 and folate. I aslo am not going to do the glucose tolerance tests, because of the fear of dumping. I had a very easy time healing from the Gastric by pass and so far I have had a very easy pregnancy. Really no sickness, just having a hard time getting enough food in. Good luck. Guest guest
When is your period due? Regardless of whether you are pregnant or not you need to make sure that you are drinking your water and taking your vitamins. Personally since the day after my surgery I have taken a chewable prenatal vitamin as my daily vitamin so I would suggest starting on those if you are. Maybe get one of those tests that you can use days before your missed period and see what it says. If you are pregnant, there have been many women who have gotten pregnant this early, heck, I have even heard of a lady who was pregnant and her pre-op tests didn't pic it up. She had her surgery while just 6 weeks pregnant and her baby was just fine . Please keep us posted as to what happens. Axelrod concerned I had my Gastric Bypass in April of 2004.
