I am 30 weeks pregnant today. I had an U/S and baby is doing well.

I have only gained about 13 lbs so far. I am scared and upset that

no one will let my try for a VBAC. I have had 2 c-sections, and I

have read about lots of people doing Vbacs with 2+ c -sections and

doin well. The hospital here has a contract that will not allow

Vbacs at all after c-sections. I am almost thinking about trying to

labor at home, and go to the hospital only after I am dilated to

like 6 or so. Then they would have no choice my OB said. I hate

surgery, and its just so unfair, that we cannot decide for

ourselves. My baby boy is moving ALL THE TIME!! I am 34, and have a

12, and 10 yr old boys. I must say that this pregnancy is much

different than when I was younger. I have a LAP DS on 3/26/03, and

have lost 120lbs. I gained 100lbs with my other 2, so to gain only

13 so far is so unreal! I am normal...lol If anyone else has had c-

sections, after wls let me know...I was wondering about the

recovery, and such; bowels,eating,ect...please write me...I am so

very depressed and worried about having another surgery..

Thanks for letting me vent...lol

Robin,

Speaking FROM MY OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, I had a very rapid

recovery after my post WLS c-section. Being a L & D nurse, I've seen

both sides of the VBAC debate (good and bad outcomes) and I thought

about having a VBAC for about 1 second before I said " NO! " We

scheduled my section, I was cute, he was out, I healed nicely in 2

weeks and complete soreness gone by 3. I would rather have 10

c-sections than ONE OPEN RNY, if that tells you how they compare on

the pain scale. I dont know if you had open or not, but I honestly

thought I was dying after the open RNY.

You'll do fine if you have to have a c-section, and you'll heal prob

much easier and faster.

Concentrate on the most special and important thing.... that baby boy

getting here the safest way possible!

:)

Robin,

I had a c-section with Hannah this past April. Now since Hannah is my first I

don't really have anything to compare to. I have to say that this surgery was a

breeze compared to my RNY surgery, I was up and walking 2 hours after Hannah was

born. I didn't have much pain at all and staples were out before I left the

hospital.

Hi Robin,

I can't say anything about VBAC but there are people here you should talk to

before you make the decision to labor at home. It really could be dangerous.

I replied because I am also 34 years old and also 30 weeks pregnant.

I've also gained 13 lbs. I thought it was funny to read your email because I

kept saying to myself " ME TOO " .

I had a baby Oct 2003 and got pregnant again just a few months later. (I

conceieved on Valentine's Day with both babies).

I also have a 17 year old daughter and 10 year old twin girls.

This last pregnancy has been MUCH harder on my body than the others, I'm sure

because I didn't let it rest enough between pregnancies. I'm SO GLAD it's

almost over!
