I wish it wasn't the weekend or I'd call my doc. in the morning... I hate to worry about nothing... ------------------------------------------------ Many people lose pieces of thier mucus plug... however.. during pg your mucus can thicken and pg women often become more " slick " down there. My mucus plug when I went into preterm labor (PRE WLS) looked like 'snot' Greenish... tinged with blood... it was nasty. That came out when my water broke. Weekend or not.. if you are having contractions or back pressure .. call the OB. When in doubt.. check it out!! *************************************************** K in Ft Lauderdale Noah - 10/14/02 (31 weeker) Jonah - edd 11/18/04 ( currently High Risk Pg.. not WLS related) Open RNY - 12/02/03 -60 lbs.. give or take

My OB had WLS surgery herself last year.. and is very up to date with all the info and stuff... and she isn't even considering my WLS as a factor with my pre term labor... *************************************************** K in Ft Lauderdale Noah - 10/14/02 (31 weeker - DX of SID ) Jonah - edd 11/18/04 ( currently High Risk Pg.. not WLS related)
Guest guest
Has anyone heard of a study saying that after bypass the risk of preterm or premature labor is 2 1/2 times more likely? I was talking to a home nurse yesterday and she was sure that's what the surgeon who talked to them said. My surgeon never mentioned that risk and I couldn't find any studies stating that risk. Has anyone else heard this? Can anyone send me links to research or studies on it? I passed some stringy thick/solid white mucus (looked very much like a shoe lace) so she was worried about me. Guest guest
, I haven't heard that rumor. I would ask that nurse to back up her facts/information with webpags and studies. As a matter of fact, most post WLS babies (at least in here- are normal weight and length as pre-WLS babies!) of course, there are a few who manage to slip in under the 36-37 week pre-term guideline...lol but they all seem to do exceptionally well to say the least! I do not think the GBS surgery has anything to do with preterm labor. I had preterm labor with my twins early like 27 weeks and they stopped it but i had to be induced at 33 due to losing my fluid early, with this baby I just had AFTER bypass he was right on schedule, only 4 hours after my due date. I khnow all the other groups I am on the babies are not coming early either. I mean anything could happen in ANY pregnancy but i sure would NOT blame it on WLS.
