Guest guest
I just responded to 's email about my blood pressure being low again...and how my Anemia is forcing me to get iron IV treatments again. The drs/nurses at the hospital said it's also why I had an accident Friday night. After weeks of planning, hubby and I ventured out to a small Detroit area venue for a concert. It was a very small show, there were only 25-50 ppl on the main floor (about 5-10 feet between everyone) it wasn't hot or smoky...and I was just standing there. Not even swaying my hips - nothing! We were there roughly 10 minutes. Just when the lights went dim, I told my hubby that I was feeling hot (completely out of the norm with my Anemia) and went to sit down. I felt better after a couple of minutes and was feeling okay to walk back to him, just in time for the band to walk out onto the small stage. All the feeling (extremely light headed, steamed and lopsided vision and EXTREME shortness of breath) came back ten-fold in about THREE seconds. He looked down at me to ask how I was, all I got out was " No, I think I should... " but down I went! I remember looking up and seeing ppl gauking, but (lol) it wasn't the usual facial expressions for some drunken jerk falling on the floor. I also heard several voices saying " OMG she's pregnant. " and " Is she and the baby okay? " The group actually paused before starting the music and my hubby and security guards got me standing and to the bathroom...where I was met by two L & D nurses. Can you believe the chance of having not one medical professional, but two L & D nurses standing next to me when falling? They checked me over, got stats and sat me down. It took nearly 30 minutes for me to catch my breath and ability to stand without swaying. The theatre's security was great - rushing me fresh bottled water, asking if they could get me something to eat, etc. One young guard kept trying to offer me a candy bar and the nurse finally said, " Dude! She's pregnant not diabetic! " Anyhow, we wound up leaving before seeing one stinking song...bummer. I felt so bad as my hubby and I were so looking forward to the show...and it was for bands that we've loved since our college days. (I'm 34) My OB told me to go into ER just to be sure. I have an artificial ankle which has taught me to subconsiously fall to one side over the years. Thankfully for this, I didn't fall onto my tummy, I fell on my hip and leg...which is TERRIBLY bruised. The ER monitored the baby for four hours, took blood to make sure none of his blood mixed with the amniotic fluid and did an hour of ultrasound. Just like my last thorough U/S at the OB's office, this nurse asked if I knew what I was having. When I said yes...a boy...she said A BIG BOY! He's measuring roughly 16 inches, she said his heart is very strong and healthy...head is perfect. Then she commented about 'catching him in a moment' because it looked like his penis was erect. I laughed and said fearfully...'No. He always seems to be in a moment (I've had four u/s done since knowing it's a boy) and my hubby thinks it's great. " Anyhow...I just wanted to share the story with others... Had quite a scare but luckily my baby is great and wasn't effected by the fall. Thanks for listening! in Detroit
