I would not want a doc that was a newbie either. stick to your guns. Glad

baby is doing well too, that heartbeat sound is the best.

It started off pretty interesting:the assistant ignored my request NOT

to know what my weight is. Thanks, 'mam. Turns out I've gained about

12 lbs total, not too shabby, esp with all the grazing.

Got to meet the brand new doc, who looked about 23 years old. I was

gentle like a dove & informed her about my unconventiohnal birth plan,

she wasn't entirely thrilled & attempted to dissuade me...mighty

futile. She said that she's only done " minor episiotomies " during the

600 deliveries she's done. Mmmm, I see. She also ---tried--- to rush

me, sorry, I asked each & every one of my ?s.

Bottom line, after having a chat with the very nice scheduling lady,

we agreed that since I have rapport with one wonderful doc in

particular, (that has 22 years of experience), I will ONLY see him for

the entirety of my pg, rather than being shuffled around. OB #1 was

too clinically dispasssionate, & #3 & I are not on the same page,

plus she made me anxious. This 1st timer isn't in the market for more

stress.

Bb is great, he's 4 cm above the navel, right on track, & of course I

was a weepy mess when I tape recorded his heartbeat.

Thanks, . I felt VERY compelled to advocate for myself.

Didn't want to feel like another number, another piece in their

assembly line.

Thanks Robin. Sometimes I feel I shouldn't be so assertive, but on

the other hand, I'm scared that if I'm meek, I'll get steamrolled.

Thanks, . I compile my list my ?s, keep them in my purse &

then transfer them to my little pg notebook. ?s on everything from

arranging for blood transfusions from family members, to the time

frame for the iron & GD tests, whether we're allowed Bean-o (lol),what

to do when my saddlebags fall asleep while I'm lying on my sides, etc.

Plus, my " real " doc had asked me to report who my bb's pediatrician is

gonna be. So all this stuff takes time, so I made sure it was all

taken care of. Maybe this new doc has pressure to move the patients

along, but nothing's more important than the little patient in my belly;-)
