Guest guest
Have any of you ladies any experience with over 40, post surgery (20 months) and pregnant? Its the over 40 part and post RNY that concerns me! I have missed one period, and took an EPT Saturday that came out positive. YIKES! (By the way, I have a 19 year old and a 15 year old, boy are they in for a surprise!)
Guest guest
I will be 42 September 12th and just gave birth to a perfect baby boy weighing 8 # 7 1/2 ounces. I was 12 months postop when i got pregnant and I had a very smooth pregnancy and delivery. My doc gave me prenatal vitamins to take in addition to my regular vitamins and things i was taking and I ate as well as I could ( went to Mcs a few too many times, lol) but I ate pretty well. I gained 50 pounds for my pregnancy and I have lost about 30 so far. MY appetite went up while pregnant but is much calmer now. Little Man is 5 weeks today. I never had any morning sickness with this baby or NO SWELLING of the face, hands or feet. With my other kids I swelled up like a water balloon. My labor was fast, went into labor 4 hours after my due date and had him 3 hours after i got to the hospital, I did not even have time to get an epidural. he is an awesome baby. I did not do any of those tests for downs or birth defects since they have so many false positives and I knew I would not abort anyway and did not want to be stressed if it came back positive. I did worry about it though being I was 41 but he is perfect and I love him to pieces. I got my tubes tied while there this time but actually wish I had yet one mroe before tying them. I did not take the glucose test either for diabetes since it can and probabaly will make you dump and feel like crap but you can ( as I did ) take a 2 hour fasting test where you fast after midnight, go get blood drawn then go eat breakfast and come back 2 hours after taking the last bite and get the blood drawn again. I had diabetes with my other pregnancies and NOT this time either. i think you will be pleasantly surprised. You sure do ahve an age gap between kids but this way you can concentrate on loving the baby up and not chasing other little ones and your bigger kids can help alot That is awesome. Good Luck and Congratulations on your pregnancy. Guest guest
Hi Ellen, WELCOME!!!!!!! I am sooo excited you are here! We share alot in common. I am actually turning 40 in November. I had my RNY in 2001, so I will be 4 years post-op when I deliver. I will deliver in Feb. with this baby. I am 14 weeks pregnant now. Due date is Mar 1 but they will do a c-section on me. I have had a tummy tuck after my RNY. My tummy tuck was in 2002. I have a son who turns 13 in December. Our lives will drastically change too. We are use to having just the one son.....and he will be a teenager and we will have a newborn! Who woulda thought? Not us! But we are thrilled and feel very blessed! Welcome! Glad to have you here! What state do you live in? We are in Texas, near Austin! Terri in Texas > Have any of you ladies any experience with over 40, post surgery (20 > months) and pregnant?
