I will be having my first OB appointment for this pregnancy in 2 weeks (I

have seen him already related to the spotting-none today so far!) and am trying

to prepare my list of questions. I want a c section, my daughter was born via

c section because of my preeclampsia (I didn't have any labor) at 36 weeks.

Will he be against my wanting another c section? Is it too early to bring it

up? If I am a scheduled c section how early will they do it?

I will be 1 day shy of 6 week pregnant on that visit, if they do an ultra

sound will they be able to see the heartbeat? I know I will be getting one to

check for the heartbeat but don't know for sure if it will be on that day or

not. This is because of my 2 previous miscarriages. We are also waiting to

tell

people until then, we haven't told anyone we were ttc either. You all have

been my life line, I do not do well keeping secrets (about myself).

Thanks, Pam

EDD May 14, 2005

open RYN 11/24/02

230 pre WLS(I am only 5 ft tall)

129 current (I lost another 4 lbs)

120 goal (maybe wishful thinking)

Pam, it's never too early to discuss your birth plan & desires. (I

was blabbing mine @ my 11 week appt.) That way, IF you need to change

practices, the earlier on it in your pg, the easier it'll be. If you

saw my post from yesterday, you'll see I'm very much in favor of

doc/patient rapport & communication, not to mention informed consent.

Oh, my OB says he does c's 10 days prior to EDD.

Best wishes.

i would jsut let the dr know that you have a list of questions to discussa nd

ask him and then go from there. tell him about having had a previous csection

and why (pre-eclampsia i've had people tell me that if you'd had it once you are

moct likely to have it again), tell him that you would like to opt for another

csection and ask how he feels about that. after that ask him how long in

advance they schedule csection from your due date...it's usually 1-3 weeks

prior, unless ther'es a preblem, they won't do an optional csection more then 3

weeks prior to your due date. as for hte ultrasound, you could have one done at

that time, unless they do a vaginal (mine didn't) you won't see much other then

the sac and the baby will looke like a bean, or a dot, but they can get the

heartbeat at that time, they did with mine. congrats and good luck, let us know

how your first appt goes!!!! hope i helped answer some q's?
