Hello everyone!

This is my first chance to get on the computer to check my email since I

had my little guy! Thank you Sab for posting to the group that I had my

baby. Here are all the details:

My water broke on Saturday, August 21st about 3pm but I wasn’t sure that

really was “it” (with my son almost 10 yrs ago they had to break my

water at the hospital). I waited and watched only to realize that is

really was my water breaking not just poor bladder control! Haha I

called the hospital about 3:25pm and arrived there at 4pm. They hooked

me up and I was having what I thought were cramps, only to realize they

were fairly strong contractions that were 3-4 minutes apart. These went

on for about 3.5 hours so we walked during that time only to get them

coming stronger while walking and then only to subside as I went back in

the bed. I was dilated to a 5 when I arrived at the hospital and that

remained the same as well. An IV was started as I knew that I wanted

the epidural for sure when the time warranted and also they were going

to start PIC if I wasn’t progressing at that point (as I had been there

for about 4-5 hours). As soon as the IV was started the contractions

were coming hard & strong on their own; they ordered the epidural and it

came just in time as far as I was concerned. I told them to go ahead

and start the PIC as well because I didn’t want to have the contractions

stop naturally again and have to sit there another couple hours! So

once my epidural kicked in I was back to my happy self and not feeling

any pain; just a lot of pressure. By now it was after 9:30 pm or so and

then my doctor came in about 10:50 pm and I was at 9.5 and totally

effaced so she said that I would be ready soon to push. About 11:05 pm

I was telling them I had to push! I really only had about 6-7 pushes

before his head was out; I couldn’t believe it! Little Jack

Nielsen was born at 11:25 pm on Saturday, August 21st. He was 8 pounds,

2 ¼ ounces and 21 inches long. I was so lucky as I didn’t have any

problems with delivery; no rips, tears or cuts or speak of! I had such

a great birth experience and I am totally in love with my little guy.

Daddy and big brother Jake are so proud, we all couldn’t be happier. I

will have to get a picture out on the website soon so show him off, too!

Thanks again to all the support through my journey; there were times

where it seemed like he was never going to get here!
