Guest guest
I don't post much, but thought this might interest you all about what has happened to and I. Please understand that this complication had NOTHING to do with the WLS... But remember that if you start vomiting like crazy, don't assume that you just have the flu... This is the email my husband sent out to everyone, and since I was doped up on Morphine, I don't think I need to try and write the same thing over again... in Western MA 323/155/presently 190 postnatal April 10, 2002, Baystate Medical Center, Dr. Coe Hello friends, My apologies for the mass email, but, you'll understand... As most of you know, WAS due to deliver around September 23rd... This past Wednesday night at 10:30, was very sick, vomiting, etc. (I'm sure she'll love me telling everyone that...) We went to the Emergency room, where she was tested and getting sicker and sicker since then. The doctors guessed a bowel obstruction, but couldn't find it and couldn't do some tests because she WAS exactly 9 months pregnant... Getting sicker and sicker, she was going into an Emergency surgery this morning at 11 am. Three surgeons (a bowel specialist, a gastric bypass specialist, and an obgyn) prepped, 9 nurses and dad stood waiting to wheel her in to the OR.... Just before going in, the baby's heart beat dropped badly and the nurses lost the sound completely for 6 minutes (dont' worry, this is good news...), so, the surgeons changed course immediatly, did an emergency C section, and delivered a perfectly healthy little boy, ph , to and I at 11:55 this morning... 6 pounds, 19.5 inches, healthy... Mom stayed in the OR for another 2 hours, surgeons found a 12 inch section of bowel that has been pushed back into itself and died, due to the pregnancy, and removed it safely... A life threatening condition had she not been taken care of that morning... Mom and baby are healthy, mom is recovering nicely, baby is perfect and happy in mom's arms... Caleb, the new big brother, is beside himself with joy, pride, and bewilderment... Dad is beyond joy and intellect... Next week when mom comes home, I'll realize all that has happened and collapse.... Thank you God. Thank you friends, Thank you , I have two wonderful sons.
