Guest guest
Hi, I am 13 1/2 months out from a DS surgery, and 17 weeks pregnant. Most days, although not all, I have absolutely no appetite whatsoever. The only thing making me eat even a little is the thought that I need to feed the baby before birth as well as after! I have made a chart with what I need to eat (protein, calcium etc) and how many servings of them I need every day to remind me, but it hasn't seemed to have helped much. I'm getting really desperate. Last appointment with the obstetrician the baby was growing at a normal rate and quite active, so I'm not worried yet. But I have to get this problem under control. Anyone have any ideas on how to kick start an appetite? This has never happened to me in my life so I'm at a complete loss as to how to deal with it. I haven't been abel to gain a single pound since the beginning of the pregnancy. I should also add that I live in Japan, where the philosophy is " not gaining any weight during pregnancy is a good thing " and " vitamins? we don't need to prescribe you any vitamins, you get everything you need from the food you eat " and " don't eat an entire apple in one day, it has too much sugar " . They actually say these things to pregnant ladies here, and they also know nothing of wls here, so I can't get any advice from this end. Anyone with anything to share, whethe you want to do it here on them ain list or write to me privately, I would really appreciate it. Thank you, Y
Guest guest
Fruit is all I ate with my first pregnancy...I'm not one to drink a drop of water so the doctor said that was completely fine. This pregnancy is a little different. I am able to drink water and haven't craved the fruit as much. The doctor told me that as long as I'm eating other nutritional things, eat as much fruit as I like. Said that the sugar is high content but will 'mix' with other food (not causing diabetic probs) BUT that it'll not allow for much pregnancy weightgain. I too had NO appetite during my first (and some of) and second trimester. By the time I was 14 wks, I had LOST 12 pounds. I'm now at 29 wks and have re-gained 17!!! I just kept eating as much as I could and something clicked overnight. The baby is doing wonderfully so the doc says a lot of it is my fluid, sack, and baby...but it's all good if I'm finally gaining weight! Don't fret over what others tell you. No one knows your body more than you...this is your baby and your decision...not the Chinese or anyone else. Good luck in Detroit
