Hello Ladies.. I am Ginny(27) married to Eddie(31) for over 5 yrs.

We were ttc for 4 long years, suffered 1 miscarriage, and now havw 10

1/2 month old twin boys, Wally and y.(With the help of clomid)

Before the pgcy, I maintained my weight at 260 lbs. When I

deleivered my twins 6 weeks early, I weighed in at 317 lbs. I breast

fed for 3 weeks and didnt really have an appetite. I was able to get

down to 263 lbs. Of course my appetite returned and I am now back up

to 280! I've been doing some research about WLS. I have an appt for

a seminar with Dr. Afram in Washington DC next thursday. I just

wanna get as much info as I can about the surgery. I do want to have

at least 1 more child so getting the surgery and having a healthy

baby are important to me.

My question is: How should I protect myself agasint a pgcy if bcp's

dont work? Depo provera sucks and I will never ever try that. Dh

and I arent fond of condoms... I would love to get pg with ease, but

not at the expense of my baby.

Im glad there is such a group to talk about these things. Congrats

to all of you that have lost weight and/or are pregnant!

Ginny,

I am 1 year and 5 months post op from the gastric bypass. I am currently

16 weeks pregnant with second child. Pregnancy after WLS is definitely a lot

easier than before. I have only gained 2 pounds so far and I am very proud of

that.

You are supposed to wait 1 year after WLS to get pregnant, just to give

you body a full year to heal and get back to normal. To protect yourself from

getting pregnant, I would use the pill or the new patch. Those are the two that

I would ever try.

Good luck!

D- Thanks for the info. Only gaining two pounds is still ok for the

baby? I had a hard enough time with my first pgcy, I dont want to hurt a baby

because of lack of nutrition. Thats all I am worrying about.

Congrats on your pgcy!
