Hey there Meredith. Well about the gas issue this is ALWAYS going on

in my life. I have always figured that if I have any gas now, that it

ONLY deals with the DS. For me, I haven't (before pregnancy and now)

any problems with eating a normal meal. People who know I have had

the surgery look at me like..wow you really do eat normal. Well of

course, that is because we have a pretty normal size stomach in the

sense. But with the Preg, as you know, keeping food down or having an

appetitie IS an issue...I am not hungry as much as I used to

be..which is weird but I fien for things out of nowhere (like for

some reason I really need KRISPY KREME in my life)..and I dont eat

sweets everyday so this is weird..and at 11 weeks now shouldt i be

gaining weight and NOT LOSING...if you dont mind..where did you have

your DS done..how long are you out? I take 2 Flinstones chewable to

get my dose in and some calcium tabs..the OB really doesnt see this

DS as being a problem being that on the ULTRA baby is growing just

fine..

How far out are you and how far along? I had the DS too, have tons

of issues with Gas, and that only gets more and more fun, trust me.

I am at 30 weeks and am 3 years out from my DS. Be careful with

your labs, I can't imagine that two flinstones is anywhere near

enough for vitamins for a DSer... I am on the below.

-Duet Chewable 2x/day (have been taking this for 2 years, pre natal

vitamin that is water soluble, very important for DS folks, they

uped it to 2x/day when I got PG).

-4 Trinsicon (special iron suppliment for DSers too) per day

-4 Calcium per day (the kind not in Tums, name escapes me at the

moment...)

-1 B12

-1 B Complex

They are also maybe adding a B1 for a thyamin deficiency that they

think may be what is causing my excessive swelling. Make sure you

are getting your labs done every 2-3 months to monitor your

vitimins, they have had to change mine 3 times in the course of my

30 weeks...

I have never been able to eat like what you say. I can only finish

a whole meal if I take an hour to do so, which I often do. I also

eat every half hour or so. I gained 9 lbs in my first trimester,

and lost 3, gained 5 in the second trimester. I went in yesterday

and had my 30 week appt and have now gained another almost 5 lbs

totalling 16 lbs. Now, they also said that I was underweight when I

got pregnant which made me laugh seeing as I was 195ish lbs, and

still 20 up on my goal weight, but they said with the extra skin

that I still have, that I was not at a healthy weight to carry a

child and the first 10 lbs went straight to me. Because I wasn't

gaining anything but a lb or two in my second trimester, they

started me on the monthly ultra sounds to monitor the baby's

weight. They were very happy I gained the 5 lbs this last month as

was I. The baby also gained more weight his month and it is now at

3 lbs 1 oz, which apparently is just right.

If you are having trouble with appetite, I don't know what to tell

ya cuz I eat like there is no tomorrow, but when I was sick all the

time, it really helped to make sure I didn't get hungry. AT ALL. I

would eat every 20-30 minutes, even if it was just a cracker. If I

got hungry I got sick, and that made me not hungry. Maybe that will

help you too?

Good luck, and I am so happy to have found this group...
