Guest guest
I refused to take the test and they gave me a 2 hour fasting test instead. Ask for one instead of drinking the glucose. Guest guest
Good afternoon, Next week my ob wants me to take the GTT and I'm nervous as all heck about it. Has anyone else had to take the GTT and how did you do? I do not always dump on sugar, but this one has me real nervous. My ob knows all about my WLS, and I thought he went a different route. I dread my appt next week for two reasons: the GTT and how much weight I've gained. =( Unfortunately I've developed a sweet tooth, but I'm trying to nip that in the bud before it gets too out of hand. Overall I still cannot eat a lot of food, so I'm pleased about that and I really haven't gained too much weight. I had originally lost 11lbs during the beginning but have put that back on. It's so weird to watch my belly grow and I keep telling myself it's all baby. You know, psych myself out! I'm just a few days shy of my third trimester and this time has flown by! Guest guest
Has anyone else had to take the GTT and how did you do? Jeri, My OB made me take the GTT because he doesn't think the two hour fasting test is as accurate as the GTT. Therefore, instead of refusing, I went along with it. He didn't think it was going to affect me that much, and I knew it would, so I wanted him to see for himself. To my surprise, I didn't get nauseous, or get a stomach ache or have diarrhea, which is how I usually dump on sugar. What happened was that I got really dizzy, so dizzy that I couldn't walk and had to lay down and rest until it was time for my lab work. After resting, I was able to walk up to the lab, have my blood drawn, and drive myself home. At my 32 week appointment he told me he didn't think that all that sugar would have that kind of effect on me, to which I replied " I TOLD YOU IT WOULD! " So, hopefully, after my experience, he will be a little more sensitive to the next WLS patient! Mommy to Duel 5/28/97, Caitlin 1/13/99, and Caris Marie 10/11ish/04 (ONE MONTH TO GO!!!)
