Guest guest
Wow, that baby could come anytime. PLEASE be sure to get a helper at the daycare like the doc said. I had my twins at 33 1/2 weeks and they weighed in at 3#10 16 inches and 4#10 17 inches and they were perfect, breathing on their own. The smallest had to stay in NICU for 13 days for low blood sugar but the bigger one came home on day 5 after being in the regular nursey for jaundice. Your baby girl should be fine but it is best to keep her in there as long as you can so she can grow. Guest guest
Hi Robin- I have twin boys too. (Thanks to clomid) My boys are almost 11 months old. They were born at 34 weeks 2 days so they were early too. The littlier one was the one that was actually the healthiest. He came home 12 days after birth and the other came home 13 days after birth, with an apnea monitor. They are doing good health wise though. Just wondering if your boys were behind in the milestones? Like I said, they are almost 11 months old and are not crawling or walking yet. They can only sit by themselves for a short time before falling. y(the smaller one) can stand with assistance but Wally can not stand at all. My dr said not to be too worried because they were early and they are very big so they are not able to support their own weight yet. Congrats on all of your kids!! ~Ginny, Proud Mommy of Wally and y Born 10-19-
Guest guest
Hi Candy- I too have twins born at 34 weeks and yes, the rule has changes about 5 lbs. My little one, y, came home weighing 4 lbs 14 ozs. The infant carriers actually say for 5-20 lbs so I guess technically the babies are not supposed to come home before 5 lbs but they let y come home when all other medical issues were resolved. He stayed in the Nicu for 12 days and Wally stayed in for 13 days. y weighhed 4lbs 14 ozs at birth, lost some, gained it back before coming home. Wally weighed 5 lbs 10.3 ozs, lost some, and gained it back. I'm sure your new little one will be just fine.. The NICU's are a very good place for babies. They take excellent care and have good technology to help the babies that need a little help. Just sit back and get as much rest as possible! ~Ginny, Proud Mommy of Wally and y Born 10-19-
Guest guest
Thanks Ginny I'm doing just that. It really is hard to break the habit of feeling like you have to do EVERYTHING. I have to do more designating to my older kids and husband and I have just learn to let this slide a bit. My husband tells me I'm OCD about stuff but I really think it's just the way men and women think differently. Anyway, I'm sure the baby will be fine. I just hate to be away from her for so long and having a home daycare makes it extra hard. I'll almost to choose between taking time off right after she is born to spend time in NICU or time off when she comes home. We really can't afford both. I'm hoping to make it at least until Oct 1 and then I think she'd have a good chance of coming home on time! My biggest risk is my water breaking (which has never happened for me before, they've always had to break it) If I can keep that from happening I think we'll be good for awhile. Take care Candy luckigins@... wrote: Hi Candy- I too have twins born at 34 weeks and yes, the rule has changes about 5 lbs. My little one, y, came home weighing 4 lbs 14 ozs.
