The guy is doing everything he can to run a legit study that will be accepted by mainstream medicine. I've watched him for a long time. I can say he is always gracious and helps to answer questions with quality references. But there have been an instance or two when people come out swinging with highly inflammatory posts when did NOTHING to provoke it. I could understand if threads got deep and after a number of exchanges, the gap between two belief systems becomes apparent and conversation got a little heated. But Sally, you came out of the gate swinging. The guy is just trying to help people. And there is no problem whatsoever challenging someones theories or protocol when we are seeking to expand our knowledge or pushing the expanse of what we know and what we should consider. Or, of course, when you believe someone is being swindled or seriously misguided. That does

not appear to be the case here. From the outside looking in, I couldn't help but get the feeling someone was trolling and looking for trouble. I don't know many autism families who have time for that crap. You will find in the biomedical community, some of the most open minded people in the world. Present your argument in a constructive manner and you will find that most people will be more than happy to hear you out. Otherwise, please take a hike so we can back to the business of recovering our children.

Best wishes to you and yours,

Tammy

I have heard similar situations with users from another group. I was almost banned in yasko's spanish group once i started to spaeak about mms, heheheh...but the group is supossed that is just biomedics (dan, yasko...etc) but moderator is yasko and thinks in just one thing. Luckyly, i wasn't banned, but i recieved non greatful comments about me.I only think one thing, no matter what kind of treatment take to recover your child if you do it responsibily, safely, nobody loves our kids like us, and we always want the best for them. Those people have to be tolerant, that's is a respectfull atitude.P.d: my english is not perfect at all, sorry for mistakes :sEnviado desde mi dispositivo BlackBerry® de Orange.Sender: mb12valtrex Date: Tue, 12 Jun 2012 20:20:40 -0400To: mb12valtrex <mb12valtrex >ReplyTo: mb12valtrex Cc: mb12valtrex <mb12valtrex >Subject: Re: banned Yep is a tyrantI believe he is doing things that are illegal and when I called him out on it, I was banned. Some of his references do not exist! If that is swinging sorry but wrong

information does not help anyone or further any cause. fired his board

people I know and replaced them with family members. Those original people have

not signed off his 501 so it isn't legal. So sorry if the truth is offensive. In

the end all it does is hurt the children. Do you have any idea how many children

have been rushed to ER's with stomach bleeds from his advice, my child being one

Sorry it makes me ill, he is not a doctor.

First I want to say how very sorry I am about your child. Many people here can relate to E.R. visits due to GI issues - my heart goes out to your little one.

If it is your intention to share an experience so others can benefit, that would be incredibly helpful. It would also be helpful to know which doctor you were working with using this protocol, (because is not a doctor, as you stated, the SCIA protocol requires a doctor in order to take part), if that docotor feels the protocol calls for sufficient monitoring or if he/she feels more intensive monitoring is required, if any of your doctor's other patients have had the same experience, how he/she feels about the protocol after your son's experience and if your son's trip to the e.r. was reported to SCIA for the benefit of the study. THIS is important information. Why on Earth would you jump on that yahoogroup and point out such trivial talking points such as "who coined the phrase 'stop calling it autism' " , yet neglect to inform others that your child had a stomach bleed????????? Certainly THAT point should have taken precedence over any other.

It would be impossible for me to state that I have read every single reference the man has offered, but I believe I've read most. I honestly can't remember seeing a pattern where I was unable to locate references - ESPECIALLY considering the fact that he almost ALWAYS provides a link.

I'm sorry your friends were fired. That is never pleasant.

This will be it from me.

I hope you are not too angry to answer the questions I asked. Somebody's child may benefit.

Best wishes for your child,

Tammy

I have rarely signed on here, but I have to say Tammy that your attack is OFFENSIVE.NO ONE on theses blogs is TROLLING. We are all interested in getting our sick children better.Shame on you for attacking Sally!!As for , I could not agree more. His interest is not in helping children get better, it is in enriching himself from the adoption of a protocol. IF he doesn't want a challenge to his ideas, that is fine, do what any one else does and start your own website. When you use Yahoo or any other public blog, you open yourself to public opinion and scrutiny. Be a big boy and respond to that. If you don't like it, don't use the blogs.Everyone here is entitled to their opinons. As for and what he is doing, I have reported him to the FDA. He is running a

clinical trial without the proper credentials or scientific knowledge for his personal enrichment. He is also soliciting your involvement and the fraudulent use of insurance thru his non profit organization (wire fraud).Get your facts straight sally before you attack board members here!!We are all sharing ideas and trying to get our children healthy. Does anyone know of any natural alternatives for mild seizures. My son sometimes get seizure like activity in the brain at the onset of sleep. The only physical symptom that is noticable is that he complains about getting a headache around bedtime.

There are many triggers for seizures, but with you mentioning headache as one symptom before the seizure, adding magnesium comes to mind as a first thought. There are many other deficiencies as well that can be causes, lack of Zinc and Taurine are common triggers too well. Here are few others things that can be of help depending what he's already getting. We've been controling seizure for nearly 6 years now with supplements and organic hormone free foods.

Patty T

Epilepsy Nutrient from Epilepsy site

Associations

Vitamins:

Vitamin B Complex

Extremely important in the functioning of the central nervous system.

Vitamin B3

Improves circulation and is helpful for many brain-related disorders.

Vitamin B6

A necessary cofactor in the metabolism of a variety of neurotransmitters. Needed for normal brain function.

Vitamin B12

Needed for proper digestion, the formation of cells, and the production of myelin, the protective coating surrounding the nerves. Prevents nerve damage.

Vitamin B5

The anti-stress vitamin.

Vitamin B9

Vital for the health of the nervous system.

Vitamin C

Vital to functioning of the adrenal glands, which are the anti-stress glands.

Vitamin A

Aids in protecting brain function.- we use Fish Oil for Vitamin A.

Vitamin E

The Canadian Journal of Neurological Science published a study showing that Vitamin E deficiency produces seizures. A powerful antioxidant that protects the body from damage by free radicals. Aids circulation.

Minerals:

Magnesium

Relaxes muscles, eases spacitity.

Zinc

Needed for bone growth. Often deficient in those with epilepsy.

Selenium

Found to significantly reduce seizures.

Manganese

Plays a significant role in cerebral function. We've included additional study information showing the positive role of Manganese with Epilepsy.

Amino Acids: - You can get a fasting blood draw called Plasma amino acid test for all the amino acids. Taurine will be in that list- you need Taurine in the upper range of normal, almost high actually. Then if they test them all, there are a few others if they show high (like aspartic acid or glutmate.. if those are high, then they can actaully cause seizures too, those two are considered excitotory aminos. So ask for a complete plasma amino acid profile to be done. It should be done no sooner than 4 hours after his last feed.

Taurine

Important for proper brain function. We've included additional study information showing the positive role of Taurine with Epilepsy.

Well my son has had this condition for between 1 to 2 years. We did start giving him taurine last summer for the seizure like activity but I dont think its helped or hindered. He takes 1,000 of taurine per day. Is that enough? Did you mean that magnesium is a trigger or lack of magnesium?

1,000 mgs of taurine should be plenty. (It's possible that the taurine was not an issue, you can actully do a plasma amino acid profile to check that and all other aminos. Taurine, my son does best having it in the higher end of normal levels) If you do this blood test do it fasting of at least 4 hours and look at glutamate and aspartate levels as well, these are excititory aminos and can cause seizures also if they are too high ) A lack of magnesium was my first thought. Low mag can be a cause of headaches and also a "lack of" can be a cause for seizures. We ended up using a combination of magnesium as it can affect bowels. My son had harder firmer bowel but he was regular at a minimum of 1 large movement per day. We started with Magnesium citrate in 225 mg doses 2x a day (he was 126 lbs) He did well, but BM's got looser and we still had ocassional seizures, so we added in another 400 mg of magneslum oxide. he currently gets 400 mg of mag oxide 2 x daily as well as the 225 of mag citrate 2x daily. He does well on BM's, and seizures with this. He eats a very healthy diet also, no dyes, or things like MSG< (that too can casue seizure activity) all his meats are hormone free amd antibiotic free, and we do minimaly "natural" veggies, but use organic for most if we can. I always add one thing at a time and slowly over 2- 4 weeks depending on what I am seeing.

Re: banned

Some of his references do not exist! If that is swinging sorry but wrong information does not help anyone or further any cause. fired his board people I know and replaced them with family members. Those original people have not signed off his 501 so it isn't legal. So sorry if the truth is offensive. In the end all it does is hurt the children. Do you have any idea how many children have been rushed to ER's with stomach bleeds from his advice, my child being oneSorry it makes me ill, he is not a doctor.Sally B> > > > You have been banned from this group by the group moderator (Yahoo! My husband's seizures are controlled with B6. We use P5P - 50 mgs.

I also added Taurine which is supposed to be helpful (but didn't stop his

seizures).

Does anyone know of any natural alternatives for mild seizures. My son sometimes get seizure like activity in the brain at the onset of sleep. The only physical symptom that is noticable is that he complains about getting a headache around bedtime.
