Guest guest
Sandy - Thanks so much for the welcome! I am very excited to be here to say the least. This seems to be an incredibly good resource for me at this point and I am very greatful to have found it... Meredith, I too decided that I was lactose intolerant around 20 or so weeks, and that helped my gas tremedously. I depend on milk and dairy for quite a bit of my protien intake so I was also taking lactaid, it helped way a lot! I never had problems till I was pregnant either. Also, fortunately, it went away at about 24 weeks, just one day milk wasn't bothering me anymore. Now my gas is back REALLY bad, but it has nothing to do with milk. I don't know what is going on, but for the last 4 days I have been wide awake writing in pain my stomach hurting so bad I am almost in tears, and even my lower back. It sucks cuz I am also on the pre term labor watch and that is one of the symptoms they tell you to watch for. So I lay awake all night trying to figure out if I am in labor or just having bad gas. PLUS I am an hour from the hospital, so I don't want to let it go too long... Anyway, keep in mind the lactose thing may get better, and the gas worse later in pregnancy. It doesn't really seem to be related to specific foods, just if I eat, which I can't seem to stop doing, so hell, I don't know what to do =) Good luck, and glad you are feeling better. Mylanta Gas Extra Strength has become my new best friend. Candy - I am also on pre term labor watch. I was at the doc on Tuesday for my 30 week check up/ultra sound and the baby's head is also already engaged. I am not however dialated. BUT I am contracting. They had me on the monitor and they are irregular but I am having between 2-3 an hour. I am supposed to call the hospital if I have more than 4 an hour. They also put me on partial bed rest and told me that I had to go to 4 days a week at work and I have a desk job. PLEASE be careful with running a day care center, caring for one kid must be hard enough, but more than that? Make sure that no matter how hard it may be, you and your baby need to come first right now, and it's just not worth the risk. On that note, it seems like there are quite a few of us at risk, or who have had post WLS preterm babies. I am going to suggest to my OB that she look into this statistic, maybe call around to some other WLS doctors and find out about pregnacy statistics. Can we put a poll on our site asking how many of us were at risk, or had pre term labor babies? I think that info may be extremely helpful to have on hand. It is very encouraging that so many have had premie babies that were healthy as it has been just about the scariest couple of days of my life. Keep the stories coming, it seems like a lot of us may be looking at similar situations. As a side note, I was reading at Babycenter.com today that insufficient maternal weight gain is sometimes a cause of pre term labor. So for those of you trying to get pregnant that have not hit the 1-2 year mark, depending on your type of WLS you may want to consider that and do some more research before continuing your efforts at this point. Good luck everyone and HOLD THOSE BABIES IN!!! Jen
