My daughter has suddenly developed a fear of I think water. It started with the

pool and I though it could be the chlorine. But now, she cries and grabs onto

me even in a kiddie pool or the bathtub. Anyone else dealt with this? Any

ideas? She used to love the pool and especially baths and I can't figure out

why now she is afraid. She is 8. Thanks,

When my now-18-year-old was little, this happened. She was 3 at the time. As a

result of not washing, her hair got unintentionally rastafarian :) I had told a

coworker at the time. She said to get a fun little baby bathtub that has a hose

and showerhead type of attachment and have her play with it, eventually sitting

in it. I remember we took it slowly… adding water, having her play with

squirting water out of the toy showerhead, sitting in the toy tub with water in

it, putting the toy tub in the real bathtub, etc. With patience and time, she

started taking baths again. I don't know if they sell that kind of toy tub

anymore. She still doesn't like water on her eyes or ears, though, even when she

is showering or swimming, but she deals with it better now. She loves water

parks where she has to put with it.
