Guest guest
Amen Sheila!!! I'm with you sister. Abortion is NOT the answer EVER!!!!!!!!!!!! Blessings~ ABORT????????? ABORTION??????????? Just because of GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY???????? ANYONE- AND I MEAN ANYONE!!!!!!!! (MEDICAL DOCTOR-NURSE-SURGEON- PREIST/PASTOR/REVEREND/RABBI- ANYONE!!!!!!!) WHO SUGGESTS A POST GASTRIC BYPASS PATIENT SHOULD ABORT THEIR FETUS *JUST BECAUSE* THEY ARE POST GASTRIC BYPASS IS AN ASSININE AND IGNORANT FOOL IN MY OWN PERSONAL/PROFESSIONAL OPINION, and thus should be treated as the moron they are. Please tell them to *get with the program* and start researching the studies that have been done and stop proclaiming that abortion is the *means to the end* of a horrid postnatal outcome. If a Post GBP takes care of herself to the best of her and her surgeon/OB's abiliity, there is no reason whatsoever on earth to NOT have a healthy baby. She must make certain she is diligent in getting in ALL of your vitamins, ESP FOLIC ACID & B12, calcium, protein and water!! Some *sicklier* patients have even required IV therapy for nutrition, but they did NOT ABORT!!!!!!!!! If you happen to have a MORON for a physician or surgeon, I highly advise you to find another one STAT!!!!!! **please feel free to click on my profile to see why I am so adamant about this subject** The **reason** is being cradled in his Momma's arms!!!!! Guest guest
Well, I didn't get yelled at, but the nurse did tell me, " I can pretty much tell you right now he will recommend having an abortion. " Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-abortion; I just cannot imagine doing that myself. I think it would tear me apart. So, I have an appointment to meet with my surgeon on Thursday so he can discuss all the problems, etc. and I will go from there. I would just *not* keep that appointment, but I would rather keep a good relationship with my surgeon for possible future need. -

Guest guest
I can't believe that someone especially a nurse or doctor would suggest an abortion, just because of the surgery. Here is my story: I have been a lurker here for about 1 1/2 years. I had Open RNY 11/20/2002, my starting weight was 376 lbs. I got pregnant 11 weeks post-op (no one told me that some people do not absorb birth control pills as well!)I was terrified...so far my recovery was going great, but what would my surgeon and OB think/say. They were both very supportive. My surgeon said it was early, but that everything looked ok, including my labs, other then B12, which I got monthly injections for. By that time 15 weeks post-op I had lost 110 llbs. I was not considered high risk or anything, but the did do more ultrasounds to check fetal growth because I continued to lose weight during pregnancy. Needless to say I gave birth to a healthy 7 lb 10oz baby boy 11/20/2003, exactly one year from my GBS. The only complication that arose is I got an incisional hernia at about 8 months of pregnancy, but it did not interfer with anything. Well just when I was thinking about plastic surgery to repair hernia and have body lift I found out I was pregnant again. I am a person who has PCOS and had trouble conceiving my 2nd child (not anymore though!) SO here I am 2nd pregnancy within 2 years of Gastric Bypass and other than a hernia, much healthier then I was before surgery. I am now 21 weeks and I have gained 3 pounds, I no longer need B12 injections. I take 2 multi-vitamins,1 calcium,1 folic acid/B12 and 1 iron pill daily. I do not recommend getting pregnant before 1 year post-op, because ther are definitely some negatives, but it does not mean you can't have a healthy baby. Just my 2 cents, sorry so long. Open RNY- 11/20/2002 Starting weight:376 current weight: 211 Due with baby #4 and final:01/28/05 Dalton 11/20/03 7 lbs 10 oz Preg. 11 weeks post-op) Ruth 08/03/01 8 lbs 10 oz (pre-WLS) Tristan 12/08/98 11 lbs 0 oz (pre-WLS)
