Thanks all for your reply. Im looking into the infections, because his bm's are starting to smell like ammonia again. This happened late last year and i remember someone suggesting bacteria. I thought it might be too much protein, however the smell came back day 4 of the antibiotics. Maybe this will help with his issues. Anyone know of something natural i can use instead of antibiotics? How about his omegas can i mix with his antibiotics? Thanks again for all the helpSent from my iPad

For my son, antibiotics help tremendously. I found this out be chance, in the same manner as you, and the difference was so great that I just could not ignore. So, first I had him test for several bacterial infections that are associated with autism such as Lyme, co-infections, etc. He was positive, so we treated and continued to test. Although he is now testing negative for these bacterial infections, we still continue to use the antibiotics because when we stop, we have regression. One doctor recently mentioned to me that the antibiotics also help with microglial activation in the brain. This makes perfect sense for us because we also see great things on ibuprofen.....another medication used to treat microglial activation. HTH!

He is on amoxicillin, but i have been told that ammonia smelling stool was bateria overgroweth or too much proteinSent from my iPad

Is the antibiotic augmentin? My DAN pediatrician warned me that augmentin can increase ammonia. At the time, he had my son take ATP along with the augmentin to help counteract the ammonia that would be produced. I am not sure if any other antibiotics do the same thing.
