Guest guest
I was wondering what a hernia feels like. I'm not sure if I have one or not. It's above my belly button and resembles a spare tire sorta and I have been having sharp pains on and off. I don't know if I'm being paranoid with this being my first pregnancy or what. I have alot of pressure on my stomach maybe it's gas ???? If it is gas would you be bloated all day night? My Mom made a comment when we went to get a bra for my wedding dress it seems that that is were I have thickned where there was once hanging skin. I have actually lost weight and havent noticed any difference where the baby is.I just know I am miserable and and it's worse at night when I try to sleep. I have calls in to my Ob and surgeon. The paunch above my bellybutton started showing up around 11 or 12 weeks i think, barely there but I new I was still losing a few lbs and hadn't gained any and it was way too soon to be the baby there. I had surgeon and OB check it each time I saw them. definitely a hernia, nothign to worry about. well since then it has gotten taut and musular feeling but is a definite bulge and is bigger and is still above the navel and I can occasionally feel baby kicking and he is way below so it ain't baby! It isn't fat either because I am still 10 lbs less than when I first got pregnant and that is with me gaining 5 lbs back as the dietician nags me to eat. (I slipped back into ketosis briefly so they had me up my calories) Anyway so for my 21 wk appt this monday I had a long list of questions to ask the OB, really out there stupid type questions. I had to ask her to show me on my big hanging belly, where was baby, I had her really feel my top blge to help me understand andd worry less about hernias etc. I can feel weird little bumps and like marbles round shapes easily thru the skin. The bumps are various seams and scar tissue from the intestinal redecorating. Doc said it's my gizzards for lack of a better word. As baby stretches my stomach and intestines get pushed higher up and I now have a double bubble I knew there was a lot of extra room in there and a lot of extra skin. I KNOW the next time I see friends they will want to rub my gizzard for good luck thinking it is baby. Anyway so it maybe with the interioir redecoratin we had done on our digestive tract that our organs move up much sooner to accomodate the growing uterus. I know 2 other gals who have said the same thing happened to them after I mentioned what Doc told me in other groups. Obviously have your doctor keep an eye on it just incase, especially if it hurts or gets too tender. mine is tender a LOT and I can't lean over a table or anything that hits the tummy at the level or it hurts. it just feels like something is squishing 10 lbs of meat in a 5lb sausage casing....
