I cannot say anything from my own experience but, a person in our TACA group who has an autistic son, raves about his Montesorri experience. She has her in it daughter in it, too. Says they will both in it till they have not other option.sally To: "mb12valtrex " <mb12valtrex > Sent: Wednesday,

My daughter is in small waldorf school. She does well with more structure which

ironically the waldorf school does have. They do a lot of singing/dancing/motor

games and modalities which are very beneficial for my daughter and the singing

and memorizing songs has been incredibly beneficial for her verbal apraxia.

That said the waldorf academic teaching is more lyrically than methodical and

they tend to teach more at the child than to the child so they dont often break

into groups and do work tables with different lessons as do the public schools.

There are gaps we have to fill in with a learning specialist and we do have to

have someone in the classroom for maths as she struggles with this. We dont find

the teachers are equipped to handle learning issues so we have to be watchful

ourselves.

She does not have any behavior issues and she is social and a team player so the

environment is good socially for her. They have an incredible nature program

where they play in the parks every week and the games are incredible for

motor/spacial awareness and teamwork, they also are very caring so the teachers

always watch out for her.

Hope this helps. If your child is a more independent learner I would go for the

montessori based school, where they have more choices and are flexible with

there choices. Also this might be good for child with sensory issues where they

can find quieter corners to learn.
