Guest guest
- MEDELA makes the best.. they are expensive but do the best job. The ones you buy at department stores also work but not as good as the medela. Because I am big chested, I found it hard to do to double pump so I just did one at a time... ~Ginny, Proud Mommy of Wally and y Born 10-19-
Guest guest
- Ive heard that you can find them at Toys R Us... other than that, I'm not really sure.. Our local hospital had a place they referred you too that allowed you to rent them for as long as you wanted them... Maybe check online or at Toys R us or even give your hospital a call. ~Ginny, Proud Mommy of Wally and y Born 10-19-
Guest guest
Hi . I did a lot of research on-line about different brands of breast pumps and in the end, I bought a Medela pump. I compared what was highly recommended, features that fit my needs and overall product for the price. The style I purchased was more expensive then others because I am going back to work and want to pump long-term (about $200.00 on-line through a Medela distributor). I have seen the Medela brand at Target and also Toys R Us. The pumps at Toys R Us were over $300 for the same style I got for $200 (w/free shipping). I purchased the Pump In Style Advanced Backpack and would highly recommend it to a working mother. You can go to the Medela website (www.medela.com) and there is information there on how to choose a breast pump. When my first son was born 10 years ago, I had a manual pump and didn't really know what I was doing. I ended up getting so frustrated due to no support and being uneducated; thus quitting breastfeeding much sooner than I had hoped. This time around I had the internet to research information and also the support of my second husband which is imperative to my success (in my opinion!). Check out your hospital as well; the one I delivered at had a shop exclusively for breastfeeding. They had pumps, clothing, accessories, nursing bras, bra fittings, books, etc. and several FT lactation consultants available to help. I hope this helps! I am 16 weeks pregnant with second child and I am going to be breastfeeding this baby. Breastfeeding and breast pumps are new to me. Thank you all for listening, answering questions and for your support. D. Guest guest
I saw them at Babies R Us and Target. They are electric and cost $270 - $300 at each place. Today, at Babies R Us, we saw a manual Medela breast pump for around $100. Guest guest
I posted earlier about the pumps being less expensive on EBAY, but this price from a Medela distributor is about $40 - $50 cheaper than a new one on EBAY. Happy shopping! Diane > Hi . > I did a lot of research on-line about different brands of breast pumps > and in the end, I bought a Medela pump. Guest guest
Personally, I like the Medela home version. I found it on ebay for like $220, which ius an awesome deal. They have medelas at target, but its not the same one. The one i have is for regular use. The one i got from ebay comes in a travel backpack with the tubes, bottles, and extra samples. I am pleased with it!
Guest guest
absolutely without a second thought or doubt, the Medela Electric DUAL Breast Pump (I think its called LACTINA) was the absolute BEST thing I ever rented! I didn't buy one, because as it turned out, I couldn't BF after WLS due to very poor nutritional health and the baby wasn't growing ANY on my breast milk (which resembled skim milk with 1/2 cup of water added to it). Not taking any chances with his health, I immediatedly switched at his 2 week appt where he weighed LESS than at birth. (they usually lose a little before s/c from the hospital, but regian it in a week). This was 2 weeks later and he had lost 6oz. 6 oz may not seem like much, but he was a preemie and had no body fat stores at all. We went with the vent air bottles, and I pumped still what I could, but we ended up totally on formula (Nutramingen as it turned out) at 6 weeks of age. I would feed him my pumped milk (8 minutes with the first and I was completely empty- after 18 minutes post WLS, I had 1.5 ounces). MEDELA is excellent and unless you are planning to BF for a couple of years, I would rent. It wasn't that expensive to rent, $26/mo I think here. BEST WISHES! (I did feel like a cow in a milk factory, but it was worth it!)
Guest guest
Hi , As Ivy mentioned below, some hospitals have shops exclusively for breastfeeding. If you're having yours where I think you're having yours - they have one of those shops by L & D! I believe you can also rent breast pumps from that shop too. I've also heard Medela is the best, and found a manual pump at Target for under $100. Other places in our area that carries them are Babies R Us and USA Baby. I'm still undecided on the returning to work bit after my baby is born, so that is why I just chose the manual pump.
