Guest guest
Jessie, In addition to this, I have heard that some women have been told that their breastmilk is nutrient poor, but I have never heard that their breastmilk was tested for calorie/vitamin/mineral content, just that it was diagnosed based on the look of the milk and how the baby was doing. I am aware of many mom's who are breastfeeding, whether having wls or not, who have difficulty eating much and its not so much that their milk isn't nutrient rich but they have problems with supply (having enough breastmilk to keep up with baby's demands/needs). I personally don't produce enough breastmilk for my daughter and I believe its because I don't eat enough plus I also have auto-immune diseases that interfere with my supply, so I supplement her with formula. I take the attitude that some breastmilk is better than none. Don't think that having the wls knocks you out of breastfeeding totally. Every woman and baby is different and your body TOTALLY changes after having a baby so the problems you have or have had prior to baby may not be the problems you had before pregnancy. Guest guest
I nursed my first child pre WLS, and was concerned about nursing my post op baby, but I have and he is fine. He has been successfully nursing for 9 months now. Jo Ann
