Guest guest
Hello there! I have long-standing CP. I have been taking Creon for nearly two years now. My specialist advocates high doses. I could not manage without it. It has virtually " cured " my malabsorption problems, ie I don't suffer from diarrhoea or flatulence anything like as much as I did before taking it. Of course, I also follow a low-fat diet. This is important. It wouldn't be true to say that I have no malabsorption symptoms but they are incredibly improved and easy to manage now. A word of warning is needed. In the few few weeks after starting Creon, I had DREADFUL lower-abdominal cramps, presumably gas or similar spasms. I honestly thought the illness itself had taken a turn for the worse. Nobody warned me about this possible side- effect. My body then got used to the enzymes and the pains stopped. I was started on 2 x Creon 10000 with meals by my gastroenterologist, with instructions to take more if needed. Later my pancreas specialist raised this and I now take 2 - 4 x Creon 40000 with full meals, depending on how big the meal is, how much fat, protein etc. I still 1 x Creon 10000 with a snack. Obviously you should follow your doc's instructions about how much to take but they seem fairly relaxed and ready to let patients themselves determine how much they need to be comfortable. I do hope the Creon helps you! With good wishes, Fliss (UK)
