Dear Group,

I ran out of my oxycontin yesturday and don't know how that was

pssible since my medication is set up for the week. Every week I set

up my medication and never take extra since I am so afraid of this

drug anyway. I have a new prescription, but the pharmacist said it

would not go through until Friday or Saturday. I do have my

Percocette that I am taking. I just feel so bad like my entire body

hurts. I feel so tired and run down. Is this caused by the fact that

I'm out of my oxycontin. So far it is taking care of my belly pain.

I just don't know what to do about it or how my medication came up

short. Can anyone tell me if this is what is causing my problem?

LOL,

Janet

Janet,

It's very possible that your tiredness and run down feeling could be

from withdrawal from the Oxy, but the Percocet should help subdue some

of the symptoms. I've experienced withdrawal and have had that run

down feeling, another symptom that hits me early is like restless leg

and arm syndrome, when they start moving on their own like that I know

I'm in trouble. Keep taking your Percocet.

Has anyone else been in your household, someone that could have taken

your Oxycontin? It seems very strange that you would run out,

especially since you're so careful with it.

With love, hope and prayers,

Janet,

I am not sure about withdrawal symptoms. Your percocet is the

same medication as the oxycontin...and it is most likely similar in

strength if you compare it to mg / hour (oxy is 12 - 24 hour, percs

are 4-6 hours). So a 5 mg percocet taken 6 times a day is the

same as taking one 30 mg oxyContin. So this could help you

adjust your percs to give you the same concentration as the

oxycontin.

As far as being short. of pills...consider your pharmacy. I always

count my pills when I get home as I have experienced shortages

right from the pharmacy. Usually it is a small amount but one

time it was very noticable. I was suppose to have 40 pills of

percs and I only got thirty. Diversion has been known to happen

at the pharmacy and if you are getting a huge quantity, it may not

be apparent until you actually count them. If this is happening

you need to alert your pharmacy - a manager is usually the

person to talk to. I was short on my zofran just this week........not

a narcotic I know but a 25 dollar a pill med and probably

worthwhile to steal......
