Guest guest
Has anyone had a pancreatic duct stent migrate, and if so, what were the symptoms. I have a stent, and it's not the kind thats supposed to come out on it's own. I have an appointment to have it replaced on 3/7...but I have a strange feeling it's coming out? Any and all answers appreciated.
Guest guest
I had a stent that migrated in to the pancreas. The problems it caused me were continuous severe pancreatitis attacks. I was in hospital for the majority of 8 months..a few days home if I was lucky, then a few in hospital..continuously with a permanent stay for 2 1/2 months. My GI told me that usually the only way to get a stent out if it has migrated into the pancreas further is by a Whipple procedure, but I was lucky..a really bad attack must have pushed it towards the opening where doctors found it doing an emergency ERCP on me. There was never any proof that the first duct I had placed came out, and one doctor told me 2 were placed, and another doctor at the same hospital told me only one was placed, so guess it had to be the mysterious 2nd stent *L*
Guest guest
If you think it is migrating in because you are having further attacks, chances are it is just blocked with sludge which is a common occurance also. The stent migration isn't as popular. After that stent was found, my GI placed a temporary stent in backwards so it hooked into the pancreas and couldn't go inwards. This is only my guess though..hope it's just a blocked stent.
