Afterthought on heating pads

Hello again,

I'd love to see the electric heating pads you talk about. The only

ones I have seen in the UK are primarily intended for rheumatism,

sports injuries and the like and don't seem very comfortable to me

when thinking about the abdomen! We have just had a group of

students from our school visiting New York and I intended asking one

of the teachers to bring me back a heating pad to try. Needless to

say...I forgot! What are they like? Size? Structure? Can you

cuddle them like you can a hot water bottle??!! If you could give me

an idea I'll ask the next friend or relative I know who is visiting

the US. (Who knows...I may make the symposium myself! Depends if I

retire this summer.)

I have used pads which are heated in the microwave. I've seen two

types, the first filled with a sort of gel and the second filled

with lavender and wheat. The gel ones are not too comfortable to use

and I worry about them leaking. The wheat/lavender ones do smell

wonderful when they are new and are very comfy to use but the

lavender aroma wears off very quickly and the pads don't stay hot

for long anyway.

My hottie, filled with very hot water and covered in its comfortable

cover, is just great for my purposes but I'd love to see one of

those American heating pads!

Any British members seen good heating pads? I have only tried Boots

and not found anything great there.

Thanks for any info.
