Guest guest
Hey girl, I searched and searched for minutes *L*...I came across this womans' story who had a Total Pancreatectomy (without islet cell transplant) and she has to take antacids for the rest of her life too. Reason being has something to do with all the parts of the organs they actually took or took part of. " A total pancreatectomy removes the pancreas, part of the small intestine, often part of the stomach, the bile duct, the gallbladder, spleen and most of the lymph nodes in the area " then this further on " She says she's having less trouble with the diabetes than she is with her stomach, which has had trouble emptying completely. She can never eat fatty or spicy foods again, and she must consume antacids every day to control a constant heartburn " Here is the whole site to read her story..although hers has to do with removing the threat of pancreatic cancer, most of it would be relative... http://www.washington.edu/alumni/columns/june02/cancer03.html Hope this helps you a little bit..if I find more, I'll post it to you.
