Pressies!

Hi!

Yes, " pressies " are presents! I got some lovely books and flowers

and an unusual present of a metronome since I have recently started

learning to play the piano. I follow an 8-year-old with my piano

teacher! I wish I'd learned as a child. It takes so much longer for

things to sink in at my age!

We were going to go to Manchester yesterday for me to choose

something special with Jim but I didn't quite feel up to it after

that flu/chest infection. Not like me to reject a bit of retail

therapy! We did make it to a concert in the evening though. I feel

much better to-day but am at that infuriatingly horrible catarrh

stage. I do hope your husband is feeling much better.

One of my sons is returning from Cuba to-day, having had to cancel a

holiday a few weeks ago because of the hurricane.

Jim is going to have his operation (radical prostatectomy) in about

three weeks time just before my Easter holiday so it will be easy

for me to be around to look after him during the first couple of

weeks at home. I'll take whatever other time off school that I need,

of course. It is good news that he can have the operation because

they won't operate unless all the signs are that the tumour is

contained within the prostate. Of course they can't ever be 100%

sure of that but the pathology tests after the op could help to

confirm it. He also considered radiotherapy and brachytherapy but

for reasons which would take too long to go into, decided to opt for

the surgery in the end. At least he had the choice. He seems to have

been " lucky " in that it was found in the course of routine tests

rather than because he had any symptoms from the actual cancer.

I hope things get sorted with the pain meds. Nobody better placed

than you to work these things out but there aren't easy answers, are

there? You certainly give every impression of being totally " with

it " !

Thank you again for your superb contributions. Take care,

With warm wishes,

Fliss (UK)
