Guest guest
Hello Heidi! Thanks for the birthday wishes. One of my sons was in Cuba and the other in London. Well, on Friday evening, day after my birthday, I was sitting watching TV with Jim and I " knew " there was nobody in the house but the two of us. In one split second of horror I saw the sitting room door opening and processed in my mind that it must be an intruder and that my mobile was in the hall so I wouldn't be able to make a call. I was too mesmerised by the opening door to say anything to Jim. Then...in walked ...a post-birthday surprise! (He was working on the Thursday so couldn't come up till Friday evening.) They'd worked out a secret code between them so that Jim would know if and when he was coming! It was in an e-mail which he sent during the day asking us to check if the phone number he had for an old schoolfriend was correct. I thought it was odd because the number (which contained his expected time of arrival!) bore no relationship whatsoever to the correct phone number which I then sent him as I happened to open his e-mail before Jim did! I still had no suspicion though. It's made a special week-end for me even though my panc is really playing up and I feel weak and unwell. Probably not helped by the awful flu and chest infection I've just had. I saw a really cute Winnie the Pooh hot water bottle cover to-day! I was very tempted, especially as it was in a sale, but I do have a teddy already who might be jealous if I brought another one home! Heidi, I do hope your surgery goes well and that the pain is easily controllable. Like you, I'd hate to watch! The bunion must be a real nuisance if you're willing to face another operation. I'm sure it will be worth it in the end, especially when you can wear nice shoes again. I love pretty shoes and I hate wearing boring, clumpy ones. The orthotics do help but I can't wear high heels for more than a very short time nowadays. I've lived in them for decades....that's probably what has given me the problem in the first place! Do keep well and thanks again! One more year to the big 60! Help!! Fliss (UK)
