My surgeon and my GI both agree that I no longer need pancreatic enzymes. I

took them for a couple of months post-op to let the pancreas rest.

Every situation is unique, butthis is why I don't need pancreatic enzymes.

When the surgeon performed the surgery, he took out 25% of the pancreas, which

included the defective pancreas ducts due to pancreas divisum. I was VERY

lucky in that the damage was ONLY in the duct area and the 25% of the pancreas

that he removed. The remaining duct and pancreas were very healthy and normal.

the drs. believe that since they have removed all the defective and damaged

areas that the healthy pancreas does not need supplementing with pancreatic

enzymes.

I hope this explanation helps.
