Guest guest
Hi All, I thought that I would share you all the treatment plan I received recently from a Pancreatitis Specialist. I have confirmed Idiopathic Chronic Pancreatitis. The treatment plan is a symptoms- based, step by step approach. The first step is medical therapy: low fat-no fat, enzymes, hyperalimentation, pain management, antioxidants and a trial of Octreotide. Is anyone using Octreotide? Would like to hear of your experience with it. Did it help? The second step is neurolysis. This would be a celiac plexus block. The next step would be v-plasty or thorscopic sphlaninectomy. The last step if all else fails with the symptoms is total pancreatectomy. By the way, the specialist also said that we should be on the lookout next enzymes to hit the market in the next 6 months or so. Thanks, Pat
Guest guest
Pat, That sounds like a logical and effective treatment plan. Are you still on the first step, and how is that going for you? With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina State Rep. South Eastern Regional Rep. Guest guest
Pat, I tried Octreotide, but it didn't do anything for me except to lower my bloodsugar at unexpected times. However, I have talked with a number of people in the group who have had a great deal of success with Octreotide, so, in my opinion, it's worth trying at least. I " m hoping those who have had success with the Octreotide will also get in touch with you. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@...
