Guest guest
Hi Janet, My intention with that post about dosing was to give a different view to the one that wrote concerning how he interpreted the mg numbers on the label for oxycodone vs oxyContin. I was concerned that people would get the wrong idea...I wished to make clear that an 80mg pill was the total amount of oxycodone in the OxyContin pill....not that it was releasing 80mg of oxycodone an hour. I did not mean to imply that there was any mistake or wrong doing with the dosage that you are taking....Obviously 240mg of oxycodone a day is appropriate for your situation...but if we were to interpret your dosage by the information that was given in the other post by , you would be taking close to 6,000mg of oxycodone a day (instead of the 240 that you are taking now) which, in my opinion, would be incompatible with life. I came up with that number by multiplying 80mg by 24 hours times 3 pills a day. You can see how this is not the way the dosing actually works. Your dosing is 80mg / day x three pills a day (which is 10mg / hour) - not that unheard of. Basically you would need to take 24 10mg (240mg total dose per day) pills of oxycodone to be the same as your 3 80mg (240 mg oxycodone / day) OxyContin. Just trying to clarify a concept that may have been misunderstood by anyone reading the previous posts. I did not mean to question your situation at all.
