Here's a suggestion if you haven't seen Dr. Cotton in the past

and have no history with him that he can bring up, to waive their

referral from a GI policy. Call the GI that has dismissed you, that

feels he has no time for you, and ask him if he'll please give you

a referral. Explain to him that you've already been in contact with

MUSC and that all they need is his referral, and that you won't

bother him anymore with any other requests or complaints.

If he's already seen you and written you off, I don't see why he

couldn't be humane enough to at least grant you a referral to

another doctor. IMO, that's the very least that he can do.

Undoubtedly the reason MUSC wants a GI's referral is so that

when they do see you and determine what your treatment plan

should be, they want to send this information to a specialist that

they know will be treating you after you leave their care. If you

could get the other GI to do this, it may give you enough time to

locate a different specialist for continuing care, and then when

you get to MUSC, you could tell them that a new doctor is treating

you, and that they can send their instructions to him.

Aren't you in the Atlanta area? I can't believe that you haven't

been able to locate a GI in your area who can see you for

ongoing treatment. Did you look in our PAI database on our

website for specialists in your area? I do recall seeing at least

one GI for the Atlanta area, perhaps more. Have you checked

with any of these physicians?

These are just some suggestions. I hope this helps.

With love, hope and prayers,
