Guest guest
Kara, We can all sympathize with where you are right now. It is so frustrating! You didn't mention where you live. If you can give some details as to where you live I know that alot of folks on here can help you find docs. What kind of meds are you on? I work in an elementary school and have to miss quite a bit of work and it is so frustrating. Trying to get your degree is hard enough without this frustration. Don't feel alone anymore you have found the right place. I have only been in this group for a short while and I have found some wonderful people with great info! Take care! Guest guest
Hi- I'm new to all this. I was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis in Dec. Since then my life has been a rollar coaster. I just feel so alone and so scared. I'm a student trying to work toward my degree, this is also my income that pays my bills. I keep missing school due to the illness. I'm just so scared by all of this. My doctor is no help aside from prescribing drugs. I would love to communicate with some others who have this. Maybe give me some pointers. Anything. I feel like I'm dying. Does anyone have any words of wisdom?
Guest guest
Thank you for your prompt response. I needed it. I feel very alone right now and I'm scared. I'm 32, almost 33 and I have an 11 yr old son. He is at his dads, he went there today for a week. I miss him terribly. I was diagnosed at the beg of Dec. I spend all of Dec and a couple weeks into Jan in the hospital minus a couple of times they discharged me for overnight. While in they did a cat scan, an mri and an ercp. Also one other one I don't know what it was and a couple of ultrasounds. They never found anything they could repair surgically so they basically dumped me out and said welcome to the life of chronic pain. I have found a little on the internet, but not much that answers my questions. My doctor acts sort of fed up with me and her basic message is go home, shut up and take your pills. I feel very alone. I was in a long term relationship for almost 6 yrs that I was sure was going to last, but she left me alittle over a year ago. this seems like it would be a bit easier to bear if I had a significant other to help out. Just simple stuff like housework an d paying bills as wellas getting lots of hugs. Um, I live in Northern California between SF and Sacto. I would love to hear more about your story and others. Any pointers would be welcomed. I have no idea what types of things I should be eating and such. Hope to hear from you soon. namaste Kara --- wrote: > ===== The whole world we travel with our thoughts, Finding nowhere anyone as precious as one's own self. Guest guest
Hi Kara, Firstly welcome...secondly...you need to find a Gastroenterologist who can help you. If you didn't know this, then this is the doctor who can try to help you with it. As for pain management, most people find that going to a Pain Management Specialist is a high priority. They deal with people with chronic pain and aren't scared to give strong pain meds to those who need them. We have a Chapter Representative, Kimber who might be able to help you as she is in California also. We have some other members who are around San Francisco also (remembering if that is where you said you were from..sorry, my mind is addled these days). If there is anything I can help you with, don't hesitate to ask. Also, if you click on the Database link to the left of the messages, you will find another link for Doctor Database. This lists doctors nationwide whom have been recommended by other members of this group. There is also a hospital database. Take care, Ward PAI Administration Support Staff dceward@... Guest guest
Kara, hey, you live somewhere close to me. I live in Vallejo and I also had problems with dealing with pancreatitis and getting my degree, though I finally managed to graduate after 6 years. Things you should be eating: high carbo, low to non fat, absolutely NO alcohol. I've found that I can tolerate fish the best as a protein source and eggbeaters instead of regular eggs. A good website for you to look at is the Hopkin's GI website: http://www.hopkins-gi.org/ Do a search on the word Pancreatitis and then read everything that comes up. It's a very good information source on pancreatitis. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@...
