Guest guest
I am so glad you found a doc who would listen! I wish I could find a wonderful one like that. I have lost faith in my GI doc. He seems to have washed his hands of me. Although he is sending me to ton, which I am extremely greatful for! He doesn't want to do anything else for me. My PCP is wonderful and I wish he could do everything else I need! But he says he is not a GI but he will do all he can. He has been my PCP since I was 13. I am almost 38. So this man and I have been through alot together! Count your blessings for this doc you found! Guest guest
Hi Kim again... I went to a new GI Associates today. Found that this endoscopy unit is infact the first unit that was ever built and founded in the USA. Who would have thought that for 5 years, I have been travelling the country, trying to find a doctor who could cure me, when only an hour from me were the perfect group to start off with? *L* well now I know and the doctor I saw today, although told me I am a high managment case, and basically a mess inside, he will not brush me aside, or deny treating me because my problems are or may get too complex for him. He even admitted that some doctors can be lazy and not want to deal with patients with complex problems, but rather deal with the patients who will be in and out quick. He also told me that if he didn't know anything, he would be willing to contact the major hospitals I have been to already (MD CC, Cleveland Clinic, Dr Lehman, Dr Cotton..to name a few) to get help to anything that he can't fix himself. This sounded perfect to me. He also told me that if I have a bad attack, call his office first, or go to the ER, get the ER doctor to call him and he will arrange an ambulance to transport me to the hospital they deal with in Knoxville...all because I told him that my local hospital have turned me away numerous times because my levels didn't rise any further. there is an angel for me after all this time....*L* Now..to what I was getting around to but taking the long way. I picked up a few brochures that fit my specific needs Here is a portion of it that might help you to eliminate some other possible causes. IS ALCOHOL THE ONLY CAUSE? No, but it is by far the leading cause, especially of chronic pancreatitis. Listed as other causes were the following:Gallsones, biliary tract disease and other conditions that obstruct the pancreatic duct through which the enzymes pass into the small intestine can cause pancreatitis. Other factors that are thought to contribute it include nutritional deficiencies, prolonged use of certain drugs (eg. diuretics and oral contraceptives, cigarette smoking and disturbances of fat metabolism. In some cases, including hereditary pancreatitis, the cause can not be determined.. Regards, Ward / tn PAI Administration Support Staff dceward@...
