Guest guest
Hello all. For those who know, i've been waiting since Oct 2004 to have gall bladder surgery done. Well I finally got a date. It's on Mar 14. I am relieved to be finally getting this surgery done. But i'm also very nervous. If my pancreas is still acting up after this surgery, I really don't know what they are going to do. My doc doesn't seem to think much else can be done. I really don't like going to him cause I feel like he doesn't believe me. About 4 weeks ago I was admitted to the hospital with severe pain, nausea and lipase of 650. My doc came in and told me he didn't think I really was having that bad of an attack and said to go home in a day. I was really angry and hurt. As a RN myself, I really avoid going to the hospital unless it is really bad. So I know I was in a lot of pain. The problem is is that this doc, who is a surgeon, is the only surgeon in my whole province who knows anything about pancreas divisum. So i have to go to him. But he's basically told me there is nothing else he can do with my pancreas divisum since they can't stent me by ERCP(they tried twice). And surgery is not an option. So I totally think once this gall bladder surgery fails, he won't do anything else to help me. It's very frustrating. He's still not even convinced i am having recurring pancreatitis attacks, even after a GI doc confirmed this. Well here is hoping the surgery at least helps a little. Thanks for letting me vent. Take care everyone, Jen.
Guest guest
Thanks to everyone who replied. Chrissy, my doc said that he won't do any type of pancreatitic surgery cause all my tests show no damage to the pancreas. He said it doesn't even look imflamed. I've had numerous tests. So he said he would not consider surgery cause he feels it won't do any good. He keeps saying he's not even sure if it's pancreatitis, cause my tests don't indicate it. Although I always have very high lipase. He thinks it's IBS. Where as the GI said i'm definately having recurrent attacks of pancreatitis. As far as where my divisum is located, I'm not sure. They've never told me. They just said they've seen it on the MRCP and that during the 2 ERCP they couldn't find it to access it. Laurie, I won't be in the hospital for more than one night, if that. So i'll be recovering at home. Take care, Jen
