Guest guest
Hi Jen, i just want to wish you well with the surgery...I know it has been a long, frustrating, painful experience for you to get to this point. I hope that the surgery is the answer. I am thinking that there is a good chance that it may stop the actual acute attacks that you are getting but it may not help with the daily or baseline pain. But who knows, once the source of the AP attacks is addressed, and the pancreas heals after you recover from the surgery, you may find yourself dramatically better! Literature suggests that those who have recurrent attacks of AP, with or without pancreas divisum, are the group that gets the most benefit out of gallbladder surgery and / or stenting. So statistically wise, you are in the right group......but it is real life that will tell the story. I am hoping for a happy ending. But remember that it will take time to recover from the surgery itself - both in pain levels and eating (you have to adjust to the loss of bile storage) so don't come to any hard conclusion too soon. Good Luck and be sure to let us know how it goes....and if you are staying in the hospital for some time, feel free to post the address. Cards would be a fun thing to look forward to and I would love to send you one to cheer you up while you are recuperating in the wards.
