Guest guest
Does anyone know now low platelets can go before we hit a dangerous level. Do platelets rejuvenate themselves or do you have to have transfusions? Is there anything related to chronic pancreatitis that could cause platelets to drop suddenly? Anyone know where information about this would be found. Thanks so much. I continued to pray for everyone on this group.
Guest guest
Hi , This is just my recollection, but many things can cause ones platlet level to drop or " go low " . If the cause is reduced or eliminated, your body will recover to the normal level. I don't remember what the measurement is for normal but I think it's about 20,000. I think there are many aspects of chronic Panc. that if flaring up could well cause the platlet level to drop. Transfusion of blood with a very high platlet level will correct the problem for a while, but as with many parts of our physical bodies, there is a natural life span and a healthy body is constantaly rebuilding itself every minute of every day. Remember that nutrition can even be a cause and we all know that proper nutrition is hard to achieve for someone with chronic Panc. The rebuild time to regain a normal platlet level can easily be months. Best wishes - Poncho - GA
